Sutro @ Art Basel

We are very happy and proud to announce we will have a video piece on display at Art Basel (Miami) later this year, the largest art show in the world, as part of an installation piece by Michael Garlington and Natalia Bertotti.

Our video will be showcasing an exclusive look behind-the-scenes at the surrealist photographic world of Michael Garlington during a recent photoshoot with Susan Sarandon.

To saw we are excited about these news, would be a huge understatement.

Check out the video piece below, and let us know what you think!

5 Things

We're keeping out 2016 promise by sharing with you all another short, fun, and casual video about things that Afonso does to keep his creativity up.

Quickly going over FIVE little things that are key to his daily life, Afonso then concentrates on talking a little more about one particular item that is probably well known to anyone working as an artist.

Take a look below, re-share it, and join our Sutro Learning efforts at:

Sarandon

Nothing inspires us more than surrounding ourselves with extremely smart creative people - people who have a zest for life, for fairness and kindness, that it makes all your daily struggles as an artist become all that much worth it. Yesterday, was one of those magical days. To the endless inspiration, we are thankful. More on this shoot later in the year...

A very special thank you to Michael Garlington, Susan Sarandon, Jennifer Raiser, David Reposar, and Lonnie Rivers. And everyone who made yesterday possible.

Borel Fashion

We are very lucky to meet some oustanding creative talent over the past three years, since we started providing our video and photo services. One of our most recent ventures veered towards more creative fashion videos and photography, with the amazing people behind the San Francisco based House of Borel.

They approached us at the end of 2015 to start working on their new video for the website relaunch. With an amazing team of other creatives, styling by Charlotte Welch, creative direction by Natalie Crane, hair and makeup by the oustanding David Reposar, and original music scoring by Tommy Sunderland.

Check the video out through our YouTube channel, or visit the website http://houseofborel.com to see it in its natural habitat. For more information on the music, please visit http://sunnytmoney.com.

And as usual, send us a message. Say hi. We love hearing from everyone.

Sony Alpha

Some of our photography and video work was just featured on the front page of the official Sony Alpha website, the official Sony destination for everything related to their whole digital camera line.

Since we mostly shoot with Sony gear these days, the article focuses on how it was to use the FS7 and the A7Rii during the intense desert conditions of Black Rock City, the creative mecca also known as Burning Man.

Rent our Gear

What better way to start a New Year than organizing our side of things to be able to share the love? So here we are, and we're happy to announce that we are now putting (a lot) of our gear available for rent.

We promise to give you great prices, but since we're just another small business in the Bay Area, we also require you to have proof of insurance to make sure any damage to our gear will be covered by you.

We don't ship our products. Our main office is located in Oakland, CA, and you can pick it up and deliver it here. But. We're awesome. We're hard creative workers like yourself, and we promise you'll love all our items as much as we do.

And what better way to help you get creative in 2016?

So go ahead. Check out what we currently have (new items added often), fill out the form with more details about your needs, and we'll live happily ever after!

Sony Loves Us!

We are very excited to share an article Sony Pro USA recently published on their industry blog about one of our currently on-going documentary projects following Burning Man, the Temple, and much more.

Take a look at the article below, and tell us what you think!

Natalie

Another recent headshot session was completed successfully, with some stunning photographs from fashion designer Natalie Crane of House of Borel fame. We had an incredible fun session at our studio in Oakland, using some Profoto lights and our beast of a camera A7Rii, which captures so much detail that we're still awestruck by what we're getting.

Natalie does amazing work for House of Borel, and we couldn't be more excited to have shared this moment with her.

Fashion Shoot

We just completed a couple of very exciting and fun photoshoots for fashion design brand House of Borel.

Wednesday's shoot was at our studio in Oakland, and a total product design shoot using state of the art equipment and our brand new A7Rii camera, which has one of the best sensors in the industry today.

Today's shoot was with two models, and the help of a make-up artist and hair stylist, at the House of Barel offices in downtown San Francisco.

We can't wait to share the results, but for now, check out the following two photos for a sneak peek at what's coming...

House of Borel

We recently had a great collaboration with House of Borel, a San Francisco based fashion design brand.

We learned a lot working on that shoot, with three models, lots of lights, and a pretty challenging (but creatively exciting) location, the Midway Gallery in the Dogpatch district.

The ad was printed this last month of September. A big thank you to everyone at House of Borel for choosing us to organize this shoot, and we look forward to hopefully many more creative challenges in the future.
