Sony Loves Us!

We are very excited to share an article Sony Pro USA recently published on their industry blog about one of our currently on-going documentary projects following Burning Man, the Temple, and much more.

Take a look at the article below, and tell us what you think!

North Adams

We recently partnered up again with one of our favorite production companies and regular collaborators from Oct28 Productions, to create another customer success story for Borrego Solar.

Keeping with the cinematic style we usually go for in all our stories, and the outstanding creative skills of our friends in NY, we were able to create another perfect mini-documentary about a new solar array installation, this time in the town of North Adams, NY.

The video was shot and filmed on-location by our friends, who then proceeded to send us the footage for us to edit and grade here at Sutro Studios. It's another showcase of the modern times we live in and the great ways we can remotely collaborate to create high-quality cinematic content for companies and businesses.

Science. And Tech.

One of the many reasons we love what we do here at Sutro is the variety of projects, challenges, and ideas we creatively immerse ourselves in as we work with different clients around the world. This time around, we teamed up with MW Tech, a high-tech company in Porto, Portugal, who is quickly growing to becoming one of the most respected optic sources technology providers in the world.

With a current re-branding effort for the company, an upcoming website and multiple conference exhibits and talks, it was time to invest in a small video to introduce the products and services the company offers worldwide.

This last September we were in Portugal, and spent a whole day filming their high-tech labs and offices at Tecmaia, a pretty great and exciting tech campus venture in Portugal.

Our challenge this time was filming stages of product design and evolution of a very high-tech nature. Small details, tight spaces, machinery, and much more. We even had to use IR goggles for one of the shots, so you can see what is actually happening in front of you.

It was an amazing learning experience, and an incredible creative challenge, but thanks to the patience of our clients, and of course the tools we used to keep the workflow as effortless and productive as possible, we are now happy to share the final result with you all. Two videos were produced, one with simple animated text slides, and another one without.

Below, you can watch one of the versions. Everything was filmed mainly on the FS7, with cine gamma modes, and an amazing lens collection. ARRI LED lights were used to make sure we set up the shots properly, and of course, everything was edited in our Final Cut suite in Oakland. Final grading through DaVinci Resolve made sure we kept our cinematic quality we are known for already.

Thanks for the great adventure, and wishing MW Tech the best of success in the tech industry worldwide.

$1.1 Million

We are proud to announce that the Kickstarter video campaigns we have done have raised more than $1.1 million in funds.

Total Kickstarter Money Raised to Date: $1,100,655

GUSTIN Jeans

Both projects were not only selected as Kickstarter Staff Picks, they were also insanely successful campaigns hugely surpassing their original fundraising goals.

We are very picky with whom we work with for crowdfunding campaigns, always wanting to collaborate with products, companies, and people we really believe in, and who are passionate about their products.

That passion becomes their story, and that story becomes a successful means of raising funds on Kickstarter or IndieGoGo.

Keyboardio

We don't always have to create video campaigns. Creating videos is an expensive business, but the return on investment in both these videos more than justifies the initial investment, and the video is definitely one of the most important aspects of a campaign. But we can also serve as overall creative consultants for crowdfunding campaigns, like we did before for the also insanely successful Global Lives project.

Feel free to reach out to us with any questions, or let us know about your project.

Flying 4K

We finally had a chance to fly our newly acquired DJI Inspire 1 quadcopter, to capture some great footage over Lake Tahoe, close to the Northstar ski resort. We were there for a few days, and ended up being stuck at the cabin during a snowstorm, but managed to get out for a couple of hours to test the drone as much as possible.

With still pretty high winds, it was incredibly easy to maneuver and capture some stunning footage of the National Forest around us. We're excited to use the drone in future production work, so if you have a need for aerial footage give us a shout.

DJI really did an incredible job with this drone, and the quality of the images is nothing short of amazing.

Make sure you click the settings menu on the video below to watch in 4K. The video footage was unedited, and this is straight out of the Inspire 1.

Interview Shoot

We ended another crazy busy week in the best way possible: our interview shoot with the super talented people behind Keyboardio.

If you haven't been following our recent posts, we have been working on creating a video for Keyboardio's upcoming Kickstarter campaign. This is a highly anticipated crowdfunding event, so we couldn't be more excited to have partnered up with them in creating this video. Friday was the official interview shoot for the video.

With our arsenal of tools ranging from the FS700, the BlackMagic Pocket, a couple of monitors, some Kinos, and more, we filmed for two or three hours and we couldn't be happier about the results. This duo have an amazing story to share, and the keyboard they created and designed is insanely great. We've tried it several times already, and honestly, we cannot wait to have one ourselves!

Stay tuned for more details soon about the video and the campaign. Until then, check out the photo from Friday's shoot!

GUSTIN

Crazy packed and fun day with the guys behind GUSTIN. Using the FS700, a ton of rigs, and several hours of great creative fun with them to film several behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to create a pair of the best quality jeans you can find. Just wait until you see what they have in store for you, but until then, check out this little frame grab from the shoot today. Many more things to come in the next couple of weeks. If you like fashion, denim, jeans, and a passionate attention to quality and detail, you will love this...
