Ethanol

We recently partnered up with our friends at Oct28 Productions to create another micro-documentary look at a new solar array installation at the Pacific Ethanol plant in Madera, CA.

Borrego Solar reached out to us to create another one of our engaging stories, and as usual we couldn’t have been more excited to jump immediately on this. With stunning production work by Scott Mason and his team, all the footage was promptly sent to Sutro where Afonso Salcedo took the helm editing and color grading the video.

Check out the video below, and learn more about why renewable energy resources are more important than ever.

Thank you to everyone involved, especially the team at Borrego Solar who we love working with in our already multi-year creative partnership.

Solar

We recently completed another video project documenting an incredible customer success story for Borrego Solar, and their new Gore Mountain solar array installation in the state of New York.

With our creative partners in New York, and an incredible team even filming down a mountain while skiing, all footage was acquired on location and sent via hard drive to our main studio in the Bay Area for post-production.

With our FAA-licensed drone operations we are also now able to capture stunning aerial footage of the site, which is essential for solar arrays and other similar projects.

We couldn't be prouder of the work done by our New York team, and this great partnership with Borrego which continues to be an enormous success!

MGM

We're about to wrap up this week a new story vignette with Mr. Smith. The amazing team of David Valentin and Daniel Corona did all the shoots, but we finished the editing and color grading for the whole piece at Sutro.

Love working with those guys, and coming from Mr. Smith we always know we're getting cinematic looking shots to play with, which is incredibly satisfying in post-production.

The original scoring for the video has been approved, and we'll be wrapping up the whole project this week, and we can't wait to share some more with you.

Until then, hope you enjoy these frame grabs from the video for a sneak peek...

Sutro @ Art Basel

We are very happy and proud to announce we will have a video piece on display at Art Basel (Miami) later this year, the largest art show in the world, as part of an installation piece by Michael Garlington and Natalia Bertotti.

Our video will be showcasing an exclusive look behind-the-scenes at the surrealist photographic world of Michael Garlington during a recent photoshoot with Susan Sarandon.

To saw we are excited about these news, would be a huge understatement.

Check out the video piece below, and let us know what you think!

Barstow

Remember when we were in Barstow filming a month ago or so? We just delivered the first rough cut for review with our clients at Borrego Solar, to have a look at some of the amazing footage we shot in the desert documenting the Barstow Community College efforts into renewable energy.

Amazing group of people, and we couldn't be prouder already of how strong the first rough cut already is. And as a little teaser, just look at this incredible sunset over the solar array installation!

Sony Loves Us!

We are very excited to share an article Sony Pro USA recently published on their industry blog about one of our currently on-going documentary projects following Burning Man, the Temple, and much more.

Take a look at the article below, and tell us what you think!

North Adams

We recently partnered up again with one of our favorite production companies and regular collaborators from Oct28 Productions, to create another customer success story for Borrego Solar.

Keeping with the cinematic style we usually go for in all our stories, and the outstanding creative skills of our friends in NY, we were able to create another perfect mini-documentary about a new solar array installation, this time in the town of North Adams, NY.

The video was shot and filmed on-location by our friends, who then proceeded to send us the footage for us to edit and grade here at Sutro Studios. It's another showcase of the modern times we live in and the great ways we can remotely collaborate to create high-quality cinematic content for companies and businesses.

Fast Company

The Temple of Promise build site in the foreground.

We have been working for several months on documenting via photo and film the build process of the Temple of Promise for Burning Man, and after being for nearly a month working in the desert of Nevada, we are happy to come back to reality and see one of our drone photos being used in this Fast Company article about the Temple build.

Take a read below as it's really fascinating to see how an art project is treated as a startup.
